Check out a NEW 75 meter net

WD9IXA (Fred) and KA0Z (John Park) plan to meet on 75 meters on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, at 7:00 am, beginning Monday April 5. Until we find a frequency we can call ours, we will look for the first open spot starting at 3.840 MHz and looking up the band to 3.850.

Once contact is established, we’ll pause frequently to listen for other DARF / U-CAN stations. We will try to remember to post our contact frequency on Facebook and here on the DARF / U-CAN Blog.

Both stations are located in Missouri.

Is it time for a New 75 meter net?

Several of us have talked about organizing a new 75 meter net. "John Park" Winkler is suggesting a focus the southern plains states be the geographical location. Nebraska to Texas, with Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana on the east. Naturally we will listen for stations that can hear the net. ARE YOU interested? What Frequency would you suggest? And what time? Maybe one morning per week at first? Which day would work best for you?

QSO Party

You are invited to join other DARF/ U-CAN members in an on-the-air gathering via Ham Radio or on the Internet, September 26 & 27, 2008.

The purpose of this event is to combine fun with communications ingenuity to involve as many DARFers and U-CANers as possible during a 24 hour period.

Ways to participate:

Check into one of the nets.
Look for a posted QSO schedule (on this Blog) and see if you can contact one or more of the stations on frequency. We will schedule interested persons for two station QSO's. Others who hear them are free make contact.
Hams can log into Echo Link and visit with VOIP. John Park Winkler KA0Z plans to monitor EchoLink whenever he is on the air. Attention NOVICES & TECHNICIANS Echo link may be a way to participate using third party communications rules. Contact John Park to make arrangements.
Call another DARFer by Phone and arrange for a scheduled QSO during the QSO Party.
Attention NOVICES & TECHNICIANS, if you have a CW rig or want to try a 10 meter SSB contact, post a comment on the blog and we will see if we can match frequency, time and band so that you can make a contact. Set up a half wave dipole and we'll see if we can make contact.
Listen as a shortwave listener and send a signal report.
Contact johnparkw on Yahoo Instant messenger and listen to on the air activity as heard from Iowa. (Others interested in this mode, please let us know.

"Midwest" 75 Meter Net -- Comments

This section is for comments on the "Midwest" 75 meter net:
The net meets Monday through Friday -- 3.853 MHz @ 1130 Z

The "Midwest" regularly includes stations in Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Indiana. There are frequently stations from Florida, Texas, Iowa, Nebraska and points in between. Net coordinator and Most frequent Net Control is N9DER in Northern Georgia.

One might wonder, should it be re-dubbed the "Southeast" net?
